Christmas Food Baskets Every year we raise money to buy, pack, and distribute food baskets at Christmas time to the less-fortunate in our community. Last year we donated 150 baskets, but this year’s needs are so great that we donated 200 food baskets in 2009!
This is a 25% increase from last year. In total over 6,000 lbs of food was distributed.
Each basket contains a 5 lb ham, a bag of potatoes, carrots, apples, and onions. Then there is the cans of soup and vegetables, along with oatmeal, a dozen eggs, a loaf of bread, hot chocolate, canned veggies, pancake mix, margarine, mac and cheese, jello, and of course candy canes.
It’s enough to feed a family of four for 2-3 days. In addition, our fund raising affords us to be able to host a Christmas Day Dinner to those the receive the baskets, are lonely, or in need.
The money raised also pays for the Christmas Day Dinner we host for those recipients of the baskets, the homeless, the needy, or lonely in our community.
There are Many Ways to Give:
- $25 donations to sponsor a basket (the bartender on duty can take your donations)
- Donations to the jars on the bar
- Buy raffle tickets to win one of many great baskets
- Volunteer your time for packing, distributing, or working on Christmas day serving dinner to those in need.
